History is our collective memory as a people, it allows us to live in the past as we experience the present and prepare for the future. History allows us to draw inspiration from those before us and to leave trails behind for those who will come after us. Every action, every word, every event in the present is a layer of history waiting to be unpacked in the future.
While we know that only the great people and events are documented, one is forced to wonder what determines greatness. Even more important is who determines what we must record as history and through whose lens we document history. Its been fascinating to see how real life events are documented by News media, mostly in the most subjective and biased of ways. For example, I have lived through the Presidency of Trump and i can’t help but wonder at the world of difference in reportage between Fox News and MSNBC. The tragic assassination Charlie Kirk made these biases even more apparent. To many Charlie was a hero of free speech and democracy. To others, he was a racist white supremacist. So i ask, WHO WILL WRITE THE HISTORY OF TODAY?
